How to Redefine Your Purpose
By Gertrude Flynn-White, June 11, 2019
When you face adversity and feel like giving up, your sense of purpose gives you the motivation to fight for survival and choose the path that leads to recovery even when you feel discouraged. Purpose gives you the drive to move forward and face whatever challenges are ahead. You may be overcome by doubt and fear but the Scripture reminds you not to fear for God is with you. He will strengthen you and help you but you have to activate your faith in God and trust Him. David said, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” Psalm 56:3.
You have to learn to declare positive affirmations each morning as these play an important role in the value you place on yourself and the way you operate daily. David declared, “Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God”. (Psalm 143:8 and 10). Learn to depend on God for protection and direction, and not rely on your own understanding.
You must establish and maintain a close relationship with God and this can be done through praise, worship and prayer according to Phil. 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with Thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” The word of God also instructs us to pray without ceasing.
You react to others according to how you feel about yourself. If your self-esteem is high, you will feel confident. Let go of past mistakes. Let go of negative or painful experiences and move forward. Define who you are and believe in yourself. Focus on your goals and how you will achieve them as this is critical to your success. If you dream it, you can achieve it. Entertain positive thoughts as your thoughts are powerful. They control your life. They either propel or restrain you. Identify your passion and follow it because this will help you fulfil your purpose.
No matter which “Valley situation” you are going through right now. It may be sickness, loss of a family or friend, loss of job, etc, just remember that God’s grace is sufficient to keep you. May you find strength listening to these powerful testimonies of how your faith in God can help to overcome adversity and redefine your purpose. Trust God. His strength is made perfect in your weakness. God bless. #myvalleyxperience
