Aging is a sign of experience and a mark of wisdom. The Bible asks, “Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding? (Job 12:12) and it continues, “I thought age should speak and increased years should teach wisdom”, (Job 32:7)
God has promised His continued love, protection and provision for the elderly. He assures us in Isaiah 46:4 (NLT), “I will be your God throughout your lifetime – until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”
The elderly needs God’s care and protection as in their childhood years. If they have walked in God’s ways on their journey, He will not forsake them when they get old. He will continue to guide, protect, love and provide for them.
As you listen to this prayer about the dynamics of aging, let us endeavour to care for the elderly. We pray for God to bless us with long life but we must also remember that this comes in a package which includes childlike characteristics and we will need others to care for us too.
