What does the Bible say about Spiritual Warfare?
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6: 11-12 ESV)
Wikipedia defines Spiritual warfare as “The Christian concept of fighting against the work of preternatural evil forces based on the Biblical belief in evil spirits, or demons, that are said to interfere in human affairs in various ways.” – Wikipedia
This is a term that is either overemphasized or underestimated by individuals based on their experiences. Jesus’ experience in the wilderness is a perfect example of how He successfully handled direct attacks from Satan by combating each temptation with the words, “It is written.” The word of God has become the most powerful weapon against temptation or any other form of demonic attack. The Scripture reminds us how David highly regarded God’s word when he said, ” I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11). Even the archangel, Michael did not rebuke Satan on his own terms when they argued about the body of Moses. Instead, he said, “The LORD rebuke you!” (Jude 1:9 ESV) Therefore, the key to successful warfare is to rely on God’s power and not our own.
In this world we are either in a physical or spiritual battle. Sometimes we find ourselves in valley situations not because of our own mistakes but as s result of the evil forces working against us. The enemy will try to interfere with our success and happiness by hurling attacks in our direction but when we are anointed, covered by the blood of Jesus and abide in God’s presence, no enemy can touch us.
Heavenly Father, I humbly bow before You in the name of Jesus Christ. You are our rock, our refuge and strength. You reign supreme and there is nothing that is too hard for You. Mighty God, I pray that You will pull down every demonic stronghold of doubt, confusion, stagnation, premature death, failure and any other thing that will allow our enemies to rejoice over us. LORD, I ask that Your anointing will permeate the atmosphere now and break, bind and destroy every yoke of bondage. We thank You that according to Isaiah 54:17 ” No weapon formed against us shall prosper and every tongue that rises against us in judgment, You shall condemn. We thank You LORD that this is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and our righteousness is from You. Father, we know that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. Cover us with the Blood of Jesus as we clothe ourselves with the whole armor of God to be able to stand firmly against the cynical attacks of our enemies. We thank You for Your promise in Exodus 14:14 that the LORD will fight for us and we only need to be still. We thank You for Your promise in Psalm 23:5 that You will prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies, You will anoint our head with oil and You will cause our cup to overflow. Thank You LORD for answering our prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.
